Speak to the salon before booking
Give the puppy’s age, breed or coat description and previous grooming experience. Ask which services the salon offers for a first appointment. Confirm its entry requirements and discuss the appropriate timing with your veterinary team when health or vaccination questions arise.
Describe handling and travel needs
Tell the groomer how the puppy responds to brushing, being picked up and unfamiliar sounds. Ask whether a short introductory visit is possible. Share anything that helps the puppy settle, and check which items the salon wants you to bring.
Agree what this visit includes
Ask whether the booking is for an introduction, bath and brush, or a haircut. Discuss what the groomer can reasonably complete and how they will contact you if the puppy needs a break. A photograph can help communicate a future style without making it the requirement for the first session.
Arrange contact and collection
Leave a reachable phone number and ask how collection will be confirmed. At pickup, ask what went comfortably and what to practise at home. Book any next visit according to the groomer’s assessment of the coat and your puppy’s experience.
